Remember we told you that we had created a Swans Cult Club illustration of Snoop Dogg to celebrate his investment in our club? Well we hurriedly had our sponsor BDP Wales print up a small batch of A2 posters just in time for Snoop’s visit and he kindly signed them for us to use for our ATFV Fundraising exploits. Well the first one is up for auction right now as we look to one of our own – the Legendary Kevin Johns!
For years Kevin Johns has been the pitchside voice of the Swans and the face of a thousand charity events across the city.
There isn’t a person he’s turned away, not a cause he’s failed to help in a lifetime dedicated to using his natural entertainer’s talent to help every one he can.
On a number of occasions Kev has salvaged a flagging ATFV fundraiser with his razor sharp wit and professionalism and I am personally grateful for all his help over the years.
And so like so many, I was deeply distressed to hear that Kev had suffered a minor stroke. It cut a little deeper given my own experiences last year where I twice had very minor strokes, often labelled TIAs – these were enough to floor me and frighten the Hell out of me, but I was lucky not to experience the level of stroke that has laid low ‘Our Kev’.
In typical fashion though Kev is fighting back and giving everything to his physio so he can get back on his feet…
…but it is going to take time and he’s going to need OUR support so that he can concentrate on his recovery without stressing about paying the bills.
Fortunately, what goes around comes around and there is good karma in this world as the people of Swansea have answered the clarion call of family friend Jessica Rice, donating thousands to Kev’s cause in just a few days.
Again, personal experience means I know how Kev will feel; when my father and I were flooded out of the family home last year some kind souls set up a GoFundMe to support us and a staggering six grand was donated – it made me feel relieved and uncomfortable in equal measure. You just don’t want that sort of attention, you feel guilty about people donating money that often they can’t spare. Kev will no doubt experience those thoughts, but he needs to elbow them to one side, accept the fact that people love him and want to help him, and then just concentrate on his recovery.

It seems a no brainer for me that we use one of our most prized signed auction items to give something back to one of our prized assets, a man that gives everything to help charities throughout the city, without pause.
It’s quite ironic that the Swans Cult Club collection that the Snoop Dogg artwork is sponsored by The Big Heart of Swansea because it is a description that fits Kev perfectly! It’s also worth reminding people that Kev has his own Cult Club illustration because he’s a Swans Legend….
So how do you bid for the Snoop Dogg signed artwork? Quite simply check out our pinned post on the ATFV Fundraising page and follow the instructions – I’ve tried to keep things as simple as possible; email me your best bid and I will post the highest bid in the post comments so everyone knows the price to beat.
The auction is open until 12pm, Thursday 2nd April.
Once the winning bid has been paid up and we’ve added it to the existing GoFundMe (or paid directly to Kev, whichever he and Jess prefer) I shall make arrangements with the winner for collection or delivery.

So come on, who wants a giant Snoop in a Swans kit hanging on their wall? And with the superstar’s signature on it to make it a valuable collectors item for Swans and Snoop fans alike!
Get your bids in, and at the same time let’s give something back to Kev …and oh, the irony, but I wish Kev was running this charity auction for me because I know he’d make a fortune with a signed Snoop to play with!
