The Fundraising Fanzine Fires Up for Five Campaigns

A Touch Far Vetched is proud of its long history of fundraising for causes linked to Swansea City Football Club or embedded within the communities of the club’s catchment area. Covid threw a massive spanner in our charitable works but with life getting closer to normal we aim to make up for it over the coming season. And so today we are proud to announce our plans for not one, not two, but FIVE major fundraising campaigns and a minimum £3,000 target….

One of the sad consequences of the Covid crisis has been the negative effect on charities, both big and small; the ability to fundraise was severely hampered by lockdown with many events unable to go ahead or considerably scaled down. Add to that the fact that so many people found themselves without jobs or with businesses hanging on by a thread thinner than a Dennis Lawrence leg (sorry Big Den – gotta stop picking on your legs!!) and its no surprise that one in ten UK charities have been facing bankruptcy.

As Editor of ATFV for me the fundraising barriers led to a mini-meltdown at Christmas and an attempt to stop feeling sorry for myself and “find a way” – which led to the successful Toy Story AppealI’ll be making a major announcement about that in a couple of days time, bringing you up to date on how much was raised and where that money has gone.

The new season combined with the vaccine led reopening of society provides the perfect motivation and opportunity to make up for lost time and opportunities and get back to making a difference in the community, whether that’s supplying sports kit and equipment for schools, toys for sick children or just cold hard cash and increased awareness for bigger charities.

And so today I’m launching FIVE new fundraising campaigns for the coming season – none of them are completely ready  with logos required, JustGiving pages to be created and other bits and pieces to be done. But quite simply I’m too excited and too eager to get started to wait around and publishing our goals is the perfect way to lay the foundations for everything else.

But also, I want to increase the chances of success by attracting a cash sponsor for the #ATFVfundraising  hashtag, which will see a business have its logo emblazoned on every single scrap of material related to our charitable exploits – whether that’s a tweet, a FB post, a website article, an event poster or a feature in the media.

So here’s the briefest of outlines of the five causes at the heart of ATFV’s 2021/22 fundraising efforts:-

1/ The ATFV Alzheimer’s appeal

Inspired by the club’s announcement that the Alzheimer’s Society Cymru is its chosen charity this year, ATFV has decided to play its part too with a minimum £1,000 contribution

2/ Pennies 4 Lenny

The mighty Lenny Johnrose will always be part of Swans folklore, scoring a crucial goal in THAT game against Hull. The combative Johnrose is now fighting Motor Neurone Disease and ATFV wishes to support him in his fundraising

3/ The Toy Story II Appeal

ATFV has already raised £1,200 this year for the Children’s Wards within the city’s Morriston Hospital and this second half of the year sequel will raise cash for our annual Christmas Toy Shopping Expedition

4/ Ysgol Hendrefelin Appeal

ATFV was proud to supply a new kit for Ysgol Hendrefelin but now we need to raise the money to help the school buy swimming equipment and 6 new starter level bikes for the pupils’ PE Lessons

5/ Coppers 4 Calon Plus

Reaching out to Carmarthenshire, ATFV is all set to raise funds for Calon Plus, the charity that supports the work of the county’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Service

Hashtag ATFVfundraising

There’s a mountain of work needed to deliver for these five causes but fortunately the ATFV Team is expanding to meet the challenge and I’ll have more to say on that side of things in the next few days.

Please also keep watching this website and our social media accounts for the details of individual fundraising pages, auction items and some absolutely brilliant events designed to entertain as well as raise money. We truly have some exciting plans and they will be rolled out over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, keep following, keep reading and keep supporting A Touch Far Vetched – The Fundraising Fanzine!

We are looking for a sponsor for #ATFVfundraising hashtag with all proceeds helping us stage and publicise our fundraising events as well as being donated directly to our charities
