ATFV is BOND-ing with two new charities as we look to add to our good causes list for the 2024-25 season. Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Faith in Families will receive the #atfvfundraising treatment and benefit from a big James Bond themed event at The Village at the start of October.
ATFV has been a supporter of Alzheimers Society Cymru in the recent past; it is an extremely important and worthy charity tackling a quite horrible condition and it deserves all the support it can get.
But there is a very powerful personal motivation for me to return to fundraising for this charity. Long time fans of the fanzine will know that the Simmons brothers, Ian and Steve Sax, have been instrumental in what we have done and achieved over the years. Sadly they lost their mother to Alzheimer’s just a couple of weeks ago, having watched as this agonizing disease slowly stripped this amazing woman of her powerful personality.
I can do little to take away the pain the lads feel at this sad time but I can show my support by restarting our fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society, and our new campaign will be dedicated to the memory of Christine Simmons.
Meanwhile Faith in Families is an inspiring local charity, deeply embedded in OUR local community, striving to improve the living qualities and well-being of children, young people, and their families.
I don’t need to tell any of you out there how tough times are at the moment with the cost of living crisis biting hard, and sadly that means a charity like Faith in Families is needed more than ever as it strives to mitigate the effects of poverty and provide children with the best chance of reaching their potential in life – something ATFV has been dedicated to since it’s launch many years ago now.
It’s been on my mind for some time to actively support this inspirational charity and the recent appointment of the irrepressible Siany Martin made me get off my well rounded backside and make it happen at last!
So with double the charities to raise for who better to turn to than Double Oh Seven – and that’s exactly what we have done, booking The Village Hotel on the 4th October for our Licensed to Thrill Night.
Take the opportunity to dress up in your finest threads with a Bond themed fancy dress, whether that’s a suit or tuxedo, killer cocktail dress, Hawaiian shirt or even your Ursula Andress bikini (don’t worry, I’m not planning on wearing minethis time around), and enjoy an evening of Bond quizzing and live entertainment.
We’ll feed you too, with a high quality Bond Buffet part of the package, and there will be other little gimmicks from our version of Q Branch such as a casino and photobooth (subject to me agreeing terms).
It promises to be a fun night that will hopefully raise a large donation to be split down the middle between Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Faith in Families.
We are also seeking support from the business community in Swansea through the sponsorship of tables on the night. For the bargain sum of just £100 your business can not only name a table but have a full marketing presence within our stunning Village Hotel function room.
We’ll also include your business in our extensive marketing campaign leading up to the event in four months time, with content such as our table sponsors video – and remember, it’s not just ATFV channels that will pump this out, it will be Alzheimer’s Society and Faith in Families channels too, giving you maximum exposure.
If you are interested in sponsoring a table at the ATFV Licensed to Thrill Night then call on drop us a mail on editor@atfv.co.uk
The addition of Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Faith in Families takes the number of good causes ATFV will be supporting next season to SIX. We have pledged to raise for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre throughout 2024/25, we will continue our Bang Em In For Bowen campaign for ex Swan Jason, put aside more money for our Safe Haven Kennel at RSPCA Llys Nini and of course continue to support the Children’s Wards at Morriston Hospital.
It’s set to be a busy old season on the charitable front but then, that’s why they call ATFV the Fundraising Fanzine dedicated to Swansea City Football Club!
