Fundraising – 2017

ATFV is the online fundraising fanzine that raises money for good causes in our community. We have a £5,000 target for 2017 and you can follow our progress towards that target below:-

Scheme or Event : Win a Few Bob for Maggie’s

182ef633-fc12-4b18-8a85-104245c9b618

Cause: Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre

The Skinny: Launched on Just Giving with the dual aims of supporting Bob Bradley upon his appointment and raising cash and awareness for Maggie’s, the Win a Few Bob scheme saw our Editor donate £10 for every game Bob’s Swans won. Alas Bob only lasted eleven games and managed a paltry two victories…but our Editor has extended the scheme until the end of the 2016/17, happily paying his dues on a far more regular basis under Paul Clement!

Raised: £170 (and counting)

IMG_4927Scheme or Event: Comfortably Numb @ The Oyster Lounge

Cause: Dylan Gunner’s Wish

The Skinny: ATFV announced its return to the charity events arena after a six month break  with this Pink Floyd themed event staged at the Oyster Lounge in The Mumbles. New DJ Chris “Mounters” Mountfield spun the psychedelic hits and Karen Sherrard providing some blue comedy whilst wearing pink marigolds! Admission for the event was free and the donation was raised through a raffle and auction, plus a collection bucket on the bar.

Raised: £300

Scheme or Event: Gunner Have a Raffle for Dylan

Cause: Dylan Gunner’s Wish

The Skinny: There are rich pickings to be had for the Editor in his “day job” place of work and once again he’s asked colleagues in Welsh Government’s Penllergaer Office to support one of the ATFV fundraising initiatives. Gunner Have a Raffle for Dylan sees our intrepid Ed staging a total of ten raffles in order to reach an overall fundraising target of £1,000 this year for the kids’ cancer charity created in Dylan’s honour. A crowdfunding page on Just Giving has been set up and you can follow the fundraising progress or indeed make a donation of your own.

Raised: £716 (and counting)

Scheme or Event: Funnies & Floyd

Cause: The Wave’s Cash4Kids Appeal

The Skinny: ATFV fundraising came to the Cwmfelin Club – and conquered it with a mixture of comedy from Chris Chopping and Karen Sherrard, and the perfect Pink Floyd tribute from the nationally renowned The Welsh Floyd. We also played bingo! Highlights of an evening hosted by Siany From the Wave included a pair of signed Angel Rangel boots going for £120 at auction and a raffle dominated by a £250 kid’s bike donated by Tredz. Laughs and loud music for an awesome cause. Note: £800 was raised on the night and a further £120 was added courtesy of another pair of signed Rangel boots!

Raised: £920

Scheme or Event: Hound Dog @ The Old Inn

Cause: RSPCA Llys Nini

The Skinny: ATFV loves animals too – after all, every team needs a dog in midfield – and so when we saw Llys Nini’s appeal for cash to treat Champ & Daisy we felt compelled to get involved. Both dogs need thousands of pounds of treatment due to years of neglect and ATFV is pleased to have made a small contribution thanks to a night of Elvis at the Old Inn, Penllergaer. With our DJ Mounters spinning the Elvis discs and Michael “Vegas” Rees wowing the crowd with his Elvis tribute act there was entertainment aplenty…but, as ever, it was host Kev Johns that stole the show! Thank you very much…

Raised: £500

Additional Donations:  £51 to Samantha Alli’s fundraising through the WG Penllergaer Raffle Scheme

Running Total – £2,637
