The Skinny: A superb night in the Cwmfelin Club that was hosted by the irrepressible Siany From the Wave. The night opened with a strong performance by comedian Chris Chopping, his ‘little boy’ looks and softly spoken voice doing nothing to hide the sharp tongue he possesses – especially for the raffle ticket seller own the night, Dannielle Davies (!). Chris was immediately followed by Karen Sherrard – or more properly Karen’s naught horticulturist later ego Esme de Flange – and her brand of suggestive, Carry On style humour was extremely well received. Well, by all but her poor ‘volunteer’ victim! A game of bingo followed (well we were in dyed in the wool social club!) and from the there the raffle and auction took place; a couple won the Tredz bike (worth £250) for their granddaughter and another luck offspring was bought boots signed by Angel Rangel as a gift from his father – who paid us £120 for them! With the night already a success The Welsh Floyd took to the stage and played out a solid 90 minute set…well 95 minutes actually as the crowd forced one more song, Comfortably Numb a fitting end to a fine evening.
NOTE: £800 was raised on the night and we then had an offer to match the bid for the signed Angel Rangel boots if we could get another pair – Swans Legend Rangel duly obliged and these were delivered to their proud new owner Andy Nakonecznyj before the last game of the season.
